What started as a dilettante hobby in the 80s soon developed into a real German rock hit. Were the first live gigs of Farin, Bela and their first bassist Hans Runge still pure chaos and Die Ärzte unable to finish their own songs: lyrics, music or both forgotten. So in the course of the 80's the musical skills of the three rock musicians developed. The humour of the three Berliners remained constant throughout this period, regularly earning them the wrath of the German censorship authorities and the title "Germany's most indexed band".

After a break, the Doctors took off again in 1994 with bassist Rod, and various successful albums later a band came to Hamburg that truly deserved the title "The best band in the world".
