Pet Shop Boys
The history of the Pet Shop Boys begins in London's King's Road in an electric shop at the beginning of the 80's. There Neil Francis Tennant and Chris Lowe met for the first time. Although both are rather reserved in nature, they both get into conversation. They discover their common love for David Bowie, Giorgio Moroder's Italo disco, art and records. "Opportunities" and "West End Girls" are among the first songs to be written by the duo Tennant/Lowe. 1987 was a golden year for both of them. The singles "Rent", "What Have I Done To Deserve This?", "It's A Sin", and "Heart" from the "Actually" album storm the charts. By 1991, the pop duo had sold 24 million records worldwide. A successful collaboration with Kylie Minogue can be found on their album "Nightlife". In 2001 the video DVD album "Montage - The Nightlife Tour" from Die Weltreise was released. Further successful albums follow, like "Yes", "Elysium", "Electric" and "Super". With Years & Years the duo collaborates for a new studio album, which will be released in January 2020.
