Standstill is foreign to Irishman Rea Garvey. It is not without reason that the musician who became famous with the band Reamonn says about himself: "I am always looking for the challenge. And this despite, or perhaps because he and his former band members decided after the 5th album in 2010 to pursue their own paths for the time being. After eleven years of working together, the air had simply been taken out of the air, said Garvey about the successful time. And that's something that "I can't take it off at all and it slows me down," says the singer.
No sooner said than done: Garvey locked himself in the studio and worked intensively for months on his first solo album, which was released in 2011. Appearances as a juror in the successful casting show "Voice of Germany" also followed. But Garvey did not completely detach himself from his Reamonn roots. The basis of his first solo album were ideas, remnants and set pieces from Reamonn band days. The success of his first album Can't stand the Silence as well as his successful albums Pride (2014) and Prisma (2015) showed that this works and that the basic sound also appeals to old fans.
Two years after Garvey's last studio album NEON, fans of the Irishman in Berlin can look forward to the successor Hy Brasil. The fifth studio album will be released in late November 2020.
