FAQ on event postponements
What happens to the events in the Barclaycard Arena affected by the ban on events: will they be postponed or cancelled?
The Barclaycard Arena team is currently in contact with all the promoters whose events are affected by the current ban. All promoters are trying to make up for the cancelled shows and are working with the Arena and the artists to find alternative dates.
How long does it take until new dates are announced?
Due to the current event bans, many concerts and shows have been cancelled, not only in Hamburg but throughout Germany and in some cases throughout Europe. For promoters this often means that several shows, sometimes even entire tours have to be rescheduled. Unfortunately this takes some time.
If you want to visit an event that has been postponed, please keep in mind that promoters are not only looking for new dates for this one show, but often have to find dates for many other shows at the same time. For this reason it can take several days to weeks to reschedule individual shows and tours.
Therefore we would like to ask you to be patient and do nothing for the time being. Your tickets will not expire in the meantime, but will of course remain valid.
What happens to purchased tickets? Do they remain valid?
All tickets already purchased remain valid. Before you request a cancellation of your tickets, please wait for the new dates. This will not only make the work of the organizer or ticket seller easier, but also ensure that they can spend all their time and energy to find new dates with their staff.
As soon as they are found, you will be informed by the ticket platforms or you can check our website. On this page we summarize all already postponed and confirmed dates in the Barclaycard Arena.
Can I return tickets? Is there anything I have to consider?
On 20 May 2020, a law came into force which aims to reduce the economic consequences of the COVID 19 pandemic for organisers of music, cultural, sports or other leisure events.
Up to now, visitors have been able to return their tickets in the event of event cancellations or rescheduling and have the costs of the tickets reimbursed by the organiser. Since many events throughout Germany had to be cancelled or postponed due to the pandemic, the economic burden for event organizers is enormous. If event organizers had to reimburse admission prices at short notice for cancelled or postponed events, this would result in a wave of insolvencies.
In order to avoid this and to be able to offer a wide range of cultural and sporting events again after the pandemic, the change in the law entitles organisers to issue a voucher for the amount of the admission price instead of reimbursing the ticket price. This voucher can be redeemed for a catch-up event or for another event of the organiser.
If you are unable to redeem the voucher by 31.12.2021, you have the option of having the voucher value paid out. In this case the voucher is only a deferral of the ticket price.

You can't keep the new date, but still don't want to return your ticket?
No one has experienced a similar situation in Europe in the past decades, which affects so many areas of daily life. The financial burden for event organizers can be enormous when they have to refund many people their tickets at the same time.
We understand that not everyone can afford to do without the money for one or more tickets and not have them refunded. However, if you are able to do so, you may be doing a real favor to an organizer and helping them get through this difficult period.
If you still want to return your ticket, you can get a voucher in the amount of the ticket price from your ticket seller. This allows you to visit the one catch-up event or any other event of the promoter who is hosting your chosen event.
As an arena, we do not benefit from this, but we would like to ask you to consider helping event organizers in this way.
What happens with Premium Tickets of the Arena?
Premium tickets purchased through the arena are still valid and you don't have to do anything if you still want to attend the event.
We would also like to ask you to wait for the new date for your event. If you still have questions after the announcement of the new date, please contact our colleagues Malte Nümann and Alexander Rakete who will be happy to help you with all your questions.
